The building is the historic Good Hope Building, dating from 1929 and the theme is drawn from the Greek Isles. Set in a side lane, off the main road, one can lose sight of the little town of Caledon and imagine oneself in Mykonos or Santorini, the setting is so authentic. The building itself has a grand history, being one of the first in the town of Caledon and the façade, which is a national monument, overlooks Donkin Street. Foschini became a tenant in 1977 and for the past 10 years so has Capitec Bank. Foschini is no longer a tenant and the space is currently vacant. Six individually decorated and cosy Double Rooms are available, all located on the first floor surrounding the courtyard. Each room sleeps two and offers either a double bed or two single beds. The comfortable atmosphere ensures guests are made to feel at home. Each room has an in-room shower and a private rest room. Athenian Villa has one Family Room sleeping four guests on one double bed and two single beds. The room has an in-room shower and private rest room. Guests are also able to make use of the additional bathroom and showers in the building. It has an extensive agricultural region with products like wheat, barley, canola, onions, wool, wine and fruit. The town has a large number of historical houses and buildings, especially from the Victorian era. HEMEL-EN-AARDE WINE ROUTE The Hemel-En-Aarde Valley, meaning Heaven and Earth, is situated close to Hermanus and is simply an incredible experience that should not be missed! It offers magnificent views of the mountains with numerous award-winning wine cellars for wine tasting, restaurants and picnic sites en route. THE CALEDON CASINO AND SPA Head to the Caledon Casino and get ready to gamble! There are non-smoking and smoking areas, offering both slot machines and table games such as American Roulette, Black Jack, Power Poker and High Rise Hold’em Poker. Head to the Spa to experience the natural mineral spring of Caledon along with other pamper treatments. BLUE CRANE ROUTE The Blue Crane is South Africa’s national bird and therefore printed on the flipside of the 5-cent coin. The Blue Crane Route was established by farmers of Caledon, who came together to protect the Blue Crane, which is an endangered species, and also to increase tourism in the area. En route you can view Blue Cranes in their natural habitat. VAN BRAKEL STORE This store is an old-time country store, coffee shop and popular events venue which was established in the 1920s. You can buy homemade delicacies, art and wines from the area or enjoy a homemade lunch.
